Photography at the Edge of Things
Jan 21, 2017
Are you having a hard time getting photos that seem to have that extra edge – that seem to have that extra spark?
You might want to try specifically looking to shoot at the edge of things.
By this I mean, carry your camera with you every where you go so that when you happen to see the edge of the storm – for instance a rainstorm or snowstorm just passing – then you'll be ready to photograph at that spectacular moment.
You can also look to photograph at the edge of the land or the edge of the lake. Go right down to the edge to photograph from that most amazing point of view.
Galen Rowell used to talk about this a lot – and it's been a real eye-opener for me personally.
The photo here was photographed right after the huge rainstorm. The air is crisp and the light is amazing.
Try this out yourself – go out photographing with camera in hand and look for the spectacular at the edge of things.
